How to Add a Custom Network on CoolWallet
Step 1: Go to the Settings page, tap on “Custom Networks,” and then tap “Add.” Enter the key information for the custom blockchain you want to add.
Please note that only EVM-compatible chains can be added manually. If you're unsure about the blockchain information, you can check ChainList (https://chainlist.org/) for details.
The required fields include: Network Name, Chain ID, RPC URL, and Symbol (native token name). The blockchain explorer is optional, but if you provide its URL, you'll be able to access it from the transaction history or after a transaction is completed to view details. Click here to check details about key components of a Custom Network below.
Take Fantom as an example, you can find Chain ID, Symbol (or Currency), and RPC URL on ChainList. Since there are multiple RPC URLs available, choose one that starts with “https.”
Step 2: After entering the key information for the custom blockchain, click “Add” to successfully add the custom blockchain.
Once the network is added to the Custom Network list, be sure to add the chain to your wallet on the “Add Coin / Token” page. Prepare your CoolWallet Pro and connect it to complete the process of adding the custom network.
- To navigate to the “Add Coin / Token” page:
- Go to the Wallet page > Tap “Manage”
- Go to the “Manage Wallet” page > Tap the “+” button in the upper right corner.
Adding Custom Tokens
To add custom tokens on this chain, go to the “Add Coin / Token” page.
- Find the token contract address from a reliable source, such as CoinMarketCap (https://coinmarketcap.com/).
- Copy the contract address and paste it into the wallet to add the custom token.
- Paste the token contract address to add the custom token.
Interacting with the DApps
Let's use lending USDC on Scroll via Compound (https://compound.finance/), a DeFi borrowing and lending platform, as an example. You can use the CoolWallet Web3 Browser for quick and convenient transactions anytime, anywhere, or choose WalletConnect if you prefer using a desktop.
CoolWallet Web3 Browser
Step 1: Access DApp and Connect Wallet
Open the Web3 Browser and navigate to Compound. Select the token and chain (e.g., USDC on Scroll), then click “Supply USDC.”
- To connect the wallet, choose the blockchain from the bottom right corner, click the wallet icon in the upper right corner, and select “Wallet Browser.”
- Once connected, proceed to the next steps for token approval and transaction verification. If you're using cold wallet mode, have your CoolWallet Pro ready.
Step 2: Token Approval
- The token approval request allows you to specify the amount of tokens the DApp can access. By default, this is set to Unlimited Amount. However, it is recommended to set a maximum limit for better security. Click here to learn more about approval limits in DApps.
Step 3: Transaction Verification
- After the token approval, proceed to verify the transaction.
Done!
WalletConnect
Step 1: Access DApp
- Open Compound in your desktop browser and click “Connect Wallet.”
Step 2: Connect CoolWallet
- In the CoolWallet App, go to “Marketplace” and select “WalletConnect.” Choose the blockchain you want to use and click “Connect.”
Once connected, you can proceed with the lending process on your desktop. Use the CoolWallet App to approve token requests and verify transactions, just like in the Web3 Browser. Ensure your CoolWallet Pro is ready as it's necessary for token approval or transaction verification.

Key Components of a Custom Network
When adding a custom network, several key components are required to ensure smooth functionality:
- Network Name: The identifiable name of the custom network, used for recognition within the wallet.
- Chain ID: A unique identifier that helps differentiate the custom network from other EVM-compatible chains, preventing transaction errors.
- RPC URL: The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) URL enables communication between the wallet and the blockchain, facilitating transaction processing and data retrieval.
- Symbol (Native Token Name): Each custom network has its own native token (like ETH on Ethereum), used for transaction fees and gas.
- Explorer URL: An optional link to a block explorer, where users can track transactions, check balances, and view blockchain activity.
These elements enable users to add and interact with custom networks in their crypto wallets effectively.
Custom Network FAQs
What is a custom network?
The custom networks feature allows you to manually add EVM-compatible chains that are not officially supported by CoolWallet, enabling you to interact with the added networks through CoolWallet.
How is a custom network different from an officially supported chain?
Custom networks do not support crypto swaps or credit card purchases. Additionally, transaction history is limited, showing only records of transactions sent through the CoolWallet App.
